Back to Rehab for Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler
It looks like Steven Tyler has relapsed from sobriety and checked himself into a rehabilitation programme for substance abuse.
The official Aerosmith Facebook page released a statement yesterday, Tuesday 24 May, explaining that the 74-year-old frontman underwent surgery on his foot. However, his pain management resulted in his falling back into old habits.
“He has recently relapsed, and voluntarily entered a treatment programme to concentrate on his health and recovery,” the statement added.
As a result, the band cancelled their Las Vegas residency gigs lined up for June and July, but fans can expect to see the rockers in September pending further updates.
Tyler has experienced perennial substance abuse issues since the hard rock band first started in 1970, with recurring trips – along with interventions – back to various rehab centres over the decades.
The “Demon of Screamin’” has plenty of support around him, and no doubt he will be back in the saddle soon.
